i read this last week. and i can't stop thinking about this idea that the Lord is my shield. by 'can't get over it' i think about it multiple times a day & try to understand it and can't fathom or understand the infinite power of the Lord.
Psalm 5:11-12 says,
'But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may exult in you.
you cover him with favor as with a shield.'
so then i started thinking about what shield means by definition:
definition of shield {via dictionary.com}
1. a broad piece of armor, varying widely in form and size,carried apart from the body, usually on the left arm, as adefense against swords, lances, arrows, etc.
2.
a similar device, often of lightweight plastic, used by riotpolice to protect themselves from rocks and other thrownobjects.
3.
something shaped like a shield, variously round, octagonal,triangular, or somewhat heart-shaped.
4.
a person or thing that protects.
i've found several other scriptures that lead me to this same point: the Lord is my shield.
Genesis 15:1, deuteronomy 33:29, 2 samuel 22:3, 2 samuel 22:31, psalm 3:3, psalm 7:10, psalm 18:2, psalm 18:30, psalm 18:35, psalm 28:7, 33:20, 47:9, 59:11, 84:9, 84:11, 89:18, 115:9, .... and it goes on and on.
it overwhelms me that He is protecting me, even when i can't/may never see it. thank you Lord.
what characteristic about Christ is overwhelming you today? just curious.
