interruptions: darkness

Last night Luke preached in the dark to the students from this passage:
matthew 5:14-16
'You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.'

his points from this passage were:
  • Our Light must not be hidden.
  • Our Light must Shine.
  • What hides our light?    shame & sin
  • What shines our light?  belief & behavior
the two things that really stuck out to me from this passage was that it's one thing to say a bunch of things so people believe that you believe but it's another to shine your light through good works in which brings glory to God.  In this case i think realize that actions speak way way way--------------> louder than words. {though words are necessary not to be confused with action and saying nothing.}

so much that my conduct would be so-counter-culture {in a good way} that people ask why....
that's bringing God glory.

also, with anything in life that we are proud of or believe in or that we love.... we never hide it... think family, house, car, fill in the blank.  you're never forced to talk about those things, you just talk about them because they are what you think about, love, and they can be consuming forces in life... but why {if He is the most important thing in our life: Jesus Christ} why then is it so difficult for us to talk about Him.  Shouldn't it just be a result of the love we have for him.

 so... Luke challenged all the students {as we sent them home with candles} to put a picture of themselves on a social media site and tell people to ask why Jesus is the Light in their life... so, luke and i did this too...

 but, if you're here on this site and you don't love Jesus or don't know Him as your personal savior... please comment and ask me why he is the first Love of my life.

your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path,
kg
