four to go...

i said i would read twelve books this year... thus far i've read thirteen.
WOWZER....
oh gosh, i just used the word WOWZER.

but i just finished this book.

i have to say that Timothy Keller is one of my fave authors. he speaks plainly but truthfully and man, am i convicted when i read his stuff...

growth. is. good. [and hard, but it's good.]:)

so i wanted to share my five fave quotes from this book. i think it's a must read... maybe you should decide...

---->one. pg. 19 'as many have learned and later taught, you don't realize Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have.'

----->two. pg. 103 'as we have seen all along, idols are good & necessary things that are turned into gods.'

------>three. pg. 123 'but if you let it (pride) humble you rather than embitter you, and turn to God instead of living for your own glory, then the death of your pride can lead to a resurrection.'

-------->four. pg. 125 'the way up is to go down; the way down is to go up.' [an awesome definition of humility]

--------->five. pg. 172 'but when we rejoice over God's sacrificial, suffering love for us -seeing what it cost him to save us from sin- we learn to hate the sin for what it is.'

take the plunge. read it. because, at the end of the day... everyone has idols in their life... you, me, that perfect christian that stays in their basement.... but figuring out what our idols are and asking the Lord for help is the first sign to change. l.o.t.s to think about.

loved this verse at the end of the book... 1 corinthians 1.25 'for the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the waekness of God is stronger than man's strength.'
