The whole point of this week in our house to reflect on what Jesus did for us. Yes, there will still be smiles, laughs, and lots of talking but if our lives are truly all about Christ and we didn't think about the cross until Friday... i think something would be truly WRONG with us.
the truth that Luke brought to the students Sunday night was not happy but it was truth... the JOY comes on Sunday. But, until then there are some real truths we need to meditate on.
before Christ there's a record of all my sins ---- it's as if there's a huge warehouse with my name on the door and it is FULL of file cabinets listing all my sins. The AMAZING truth is that the cross exploded my warehouse and every other person's warehouse when they choose to accept Jesus in their heart. the record of debt was nailed to the cross.
Jesus died and from 7 places he bled... think upon these things:
1. Luke 2:2 says he sweat blood the night before he died... he bled for the 'effort' we try to make to 'try to get into heaven.'
2. He was beaten in the back for all the times we turn our back on Him...
3. They pulled his beard out... for all the wrong things I look at and say.
4. He wore a crown of thorns and his head bled... for the thoughts that are dirty, mean, and angry that you and i think...
5. His hands were nailed to the cross for all the things we touch and the ways we use our hands to do sinful things...
6. There were nails in his feet for all the places we shouldn't go that are evil.
7. The wood on his back scraped his already beaten back just to take a breath and then came a spear in His side... in His gut for all the feelings that we ignore of where we know we should or shouldn't go.
What can wash away our sin? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS... this is the central piece of our faith. meditate on it today...
